What is a salon?
The salon is frequently associated with affluent socialites in 18th and 19th Century Europe. Often organized by women, these upper-class families would host intimate gatherings of musicians, poets, philosophers, and other ‘brilliant minds’ in the salons, or large reception halls, of their homes. In addition to performances of music both new and old, salons were commonly regarded as cultural epicenters in which ideas were freely exchanged and discussed.
The Lincoln Music Salon is designed to highlight the immense artistry in our area by providing a space for musicians from all backgrounds and experience to connect with their community.
Audience members are encouraged to engage with performers, ask questions, and make connections.
